Hirohashi Mitsushige (広橋光成)
Mitsushige HIROHASHI (February 22, 1797 - September 29, 1862) was a court noble in the Edo period. He was a son of Tanesada HIROHASHI, and his mother was a daughter of Yorihiro HAMURO. His wife was a daughter of Masayuki (雅之) ASUKAI.
He was born in Kyoto. His court official rank was Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade) at the age of two in 1798, and he reached the manhood with the rank of Jugoinojo (Junior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade) in 1802. After that, he hold various posts such as Kurodo no to (Head Chamberlain), Benkan (Controller of the Oversight Department) and Uchuben (Middle Controller of the Right). He was promoted to Sangi (Royal Advisors), Udaiben (Controller of the Right) and Sadaiben (Controller of the Left) in 1824, Chunagon (Middle Counselor) in 1828, and then Shonii Dainagon (Major Counselor with Senior Second Rank) in 1845.
He became buke tenso (liaison officers between the imperial court and the military government) in 1857 after serving as giso (position to report congress decision to the emperor) in 1835. The following year, he mediated between the imperial court and the bakufu on the issue of the imperial grant for concluding a treaty. After that, he struggled to work on the marriage of Imperial Princess Kazunomiya Chikako. He was promoted to Jun-daijin (Vice Minister) in 1862 but died in the same year.
